First time I've been online in a few days - rather refreshing, actually. I hope everyone is getting the holiday they wanted.
Remember Ms. Bunny Greenhouse? The stand-up lady:
...who was demoted after blowing the whistle on alleged contractor fraud and abuse involving exclusive, non-compete contracts worth billions of dollars to Halliburton and its subsidiary KBR...If she's amenable, I'd love to see PE Obama use her skills in delving deep into Halliburton and the other defense contractors' misdeeds.
To every time: from my regular school trip location the Hayden Planetarium:
...By international agreement, the world's timekeepers, in order to keep their official atomic clocks in step with the world's irregular but gradually slowing rotation, have decreed that a Leap Second be inserted between 2008 and 2009...
Have you sent in your suggestion to Change.gov? I was just watching the latest weekly address, with Barack's focus on our troops and military families, and the tough times many of us are dealing with. I've got my issues with the man (Rev. Warren, no position for Howard Dean, etc). But I watch these videos with even more hope than I had before the election that he'll help civility, sanity and science to take hold in our country again.
Let's get small: if you own a small business, it could be that your local bank may be of service in times like these.
I've been listening to Garrison Keillor's The Writer's Almanac podcast: otherwise known as all poetry, all the time, and I'm a convert. As I head back into the cocoon, I don't think he'd mind if I borrow his signature farewell:
Be well, do good work, & keep in touch.
