Michelle and Barack have made a commitment to try to make life as normal and safe as possible for their girls. This has always been a struggle when there are young kids in the first family-- but in this age of internet speed, an out of control news media and a hyper-commercial state-- this job will be harder than ever before.
Already, The First Lady, is taking on TY toys (of beanie baby fame) for their two new dolls, Sweet Sasha and Marvelous Malia.
I definitely side with the Michelle here, There is no need for TY to capitalize on these girls and use them for their benefit.
A spokeswoman for Michelle told chicagobusiness.com that "we believe it is inappropriate to use young private citizens for marketing purposes." Ty responded by saying that although the dolls were created with the Obama daughters in mind, they "were not designed to look like any living person." The dolls in question are part of a TyGirlz line that includes dolls named Lindsay, Britney, Paris, Hillary and Jenna (but no Barbara). UPI , APyou can send an email message to Ty that this is not an appropriate decision or product release.
