New Bush residence, 8000 sq. digs in Richy-rich Preston Hollow, Dallas.
Barely one month out from their move from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, with the country in the worst crisis in 50 years--largely of the Bush's making, But Laura could care less about the state of the union or the struggles of the new administration to clean up her husband's mess. When asked what she thought of the speech President Obama gave to the joint session of congress this week... Mrs. Bush said she didn't watch it, largely because she totally forgot it was going to be happening.
In fact, so suddenly and thoroughly has Mrs. Bush settled into her post-White House life back home in Texas that she missed President Obama's speech to Congress the other night.
"The next day I thought it was so ironic," Mrs. Bush told Karl, "that for eight years I would be a nervous wreck before the State of the Union, and for days before, as George would be preparing his speech, worried about it and thinking about what was going to be in the speech. And this time it came and went and I didn't even think about it."-- LA Times
I guess I should welcome the Bush's apathy, it is much less dangerous for the world as a whole. But I think decorum should mandate that you don't so thoughtlessly show your disdain for the country that is largely in ruins because of you. Maybe that's just me. feh.
